Pretty:
Jack (O'Lantern) is an indoor-only cat, but during the summer we let him bask on the back porch for a while so he'll quit his belly achin'. ;) He likes to lay out there until his coat is too hot to touch.
Happy:
My 2-year-old nephew, Jasper, told his Dad he wanted to start a band. When my Brother-in-law asked him what he wanted to call it, Jasper said "Monster Ben."
So here's Monster Ben practicing in the living room.
Funny:
Tommy found a new chew toy. Thankfully I got it from him before he did damage, or it did HIM damage, but he was disappointed that I took it away.
Real:
During an overly-zealous landscaping job I snipped a small cord running from the AC. Of course I did that on a day when it was 102 degrees, which meant I camped out in my office for the night. Yes, that's duct tape that keeps the waterproof cover on under the chaise cover. *g*

I'm jumping right into the cold blogging water to post my first ever {pretty, happy, funny, real} entry. If you haven't read Like Mother, Like Daughter yet you're missing some of the wisest, kindest, most genuinely helpful homemaking blogging out there.
Of course, let's face it, that's how you found me, so I'm probably not telling you anything you don't know.
Onward!
*Pretty
Lemon tea cookies (okay, I made up the recipe, but they turned out really well), hydrangeas from the yard, a homemade candle, and somewhere down there is my latest great yard-sale find: an adorable, summery madras tablecloth and 4 matching napkins that I got for $1.50. This is the kind of photo I like to have on hand for long, gray, midwinter days when I've convinced myself it'll never be light again.
*Happy
The handmade sign in my friend's backyard.
*Funny
My sister and brother-in-law had this photo of Jasper taken while they were on vacation. There's an app online that lets you turn it into a motivational poster. I thought this one was fitting.
*Real
I took out the junk drawer in order to do some organizing, and when I went to put it back in I noticed a little visitor. Hobbie is a sucker for comfort, and though I laughed at him, I was not fond of having to wash all of the dishcloths and towels in that drawer.
